ATP Rankings - Men's Singles

1. Roger Federer (SUI)
Roger Federer is a Swiss tennis player whose amazing achievements helped rank him along the best tennis professionals of all time. As of today, Roger Federer is the world’s number 1 tennis player. Many tennis observers, including even many of his peers, believe that Federer can be the greatest tennis player ever.


2. Novak Djokovic (SRB)
A versatile player, Djokovic has reached the semifinals or better of each Grand Slam. In winning the 2008 Australian Open, he became the first player besides Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal to win a major since 2005. Nicknamed ‘Nole,’ the Serb has spent extended periods of time as the No. 3 player in the world, but has never been ranked higher until now.


3. Rafael Nadal (ESP)
A six-time major champion and arguably the greatest clay court player of all time, Nadal won four straight French Open titles from 2005 to 2008. Nadal defeated his rival Roger Federer in 2008 Wimbledon final, considered one of the greatest matches of all time. After spending a record 160 weeks ranked No. 2 behind Roger Federer, Nadal ascended to the No. 1 spot on August 18, 2008. He ceded the No. 1 ranking to Federer on July 6, 2009. Nadal is the first Spaniard ever to achieve that feat.


8. Andy Roddick (USA)
Andy Roddick is an American professional tennis player and a former World No. 1. His best surfaces are hard court and grass. He is the top-ranked American player and the only male American inside the top 10. He became a Grand Slam singles champion when he won the title at the 2003 U.S. Open. He and Roger Federer are the only players to have been ranked in the ATP Top 10 at year-end from 2002 through 2009. Roddick is known for his powerful serves and holds the fastest serve recorded in professional tennis, measured at 155 mph.
